Never seen one in person.  What does it contain?  Car & loco drawings?  Dims?  Does a 1970 version contain everything a 1966 version would?

Not sure exactly how to describe it.

Here's a online copy of the 1909.

A couple things to add.

Before the 1966 Cars and Locomotives were separate books.  Most contain a lot of drawings but it really starts to fall off in the 1970 one as far as how detailed the drawings are.  Each addition has newer cars but some drawings will span multiple issues.

If you're a freight car junkie, then there's a ton of other stuff in there like parts suppliers.

So... should I buy the '66 version and '70 version if I model '69 or one or the other?

I guess depending on the price, I'd get the 1966 first and see what you think.
