Another BN Car Near and Dear...

I have always loved the white "spartan scheme" BNFE reefers, and they have been on my list of TO DO items for awhile.   Simple scheme, but still a paint job and decal job that hasn't been a priority.   Well, Intermountain has now announced these cars as part of a recent run of their reefers, so I thought I would make some noise about it in case others were interested.   I'm guessing these won't make, since Intermountain is relying on their dealers to communicate interest, and they seem to cancel more than they produce these days.   But maybe if Intermountain gets enough direct contact they'll go through with them.   Worth a shot...

Here's some proto pics of the announced road numbers...

I like the green door on 19371 ... an easy modeling job too.

Yeah, I thought that was cool.  Also some crazy weathering jobs on some of the others!

Doug:  I wouldn't count on getting these.  The only IM cars I have reserved that haven't been cancelled are two sets of 40 ft boxcars, and they've been "coming" since 2013.  Everything newer than that has been cancelled, including all of the 12 panel boxcars, multiple 1937 and 1944 boxcars, undecorated 60 ft flatcars, and all of the mechanical reefers.

I wonder if they're actually making anything except press releases?

I had planned to replace all of my MDC reefers with new IM cars, but after buying two IM from my dealer, and having everything that had been announced cancelled. that plan has been shelved, and I'll be buying more ex-MDC from Athearn.

Oh yeah, I know the drill.   I don't have any expectations about them getting produced, but hey I can dream.   8)

I haven't received ONE grain hopper that I've reserved since Intermountain started this asinine system.   Maybe someday they'll figure out how flawed it really is, but I'm not optimistic.   I have to think their overall production has been affected....surely they're realizing they're leaving money on the table, but perhaps that's their goal....dunno.   :?

They've all already been canceled:

Or they've been re-announced after earlier cancellation. Probably that latter...
