Three Fishing Vessels in N and Z

I've build three small fishing vessels that are from the North Sea, but are equally home around the US. The hulls are built up styrene. Included are full hull decals for the North Sea versions, custom made winches, and brass railings and ladders.

The first (SD4-WattenMeer) is a 50' (15 m) crabber or shrimper.

The second (FE4-Christine) is a typical 63' (19 m) trawler rig.

Last (FE5-Visarned) is a 75' (23 m) trawler rig with twin holds.

The kits are USD $69.00 plus $7.00 shipping. These are not usually available as built-ups, but inquire, as I will build them as my building schedule permits.

Those are very nice; the first one looks a lot like an example of our local fleet here on the Coast....

Yes, shrimpers/crabbers seem to be pretty universal in design, at least in the Western hemisphere.

Wow, those look great. Nice work, any plans on weathering them?

They are kits, so weathering is up to the builder. If I do build some for buyers, I can certainly weather them. They get very expensive (per inch) if I build them. :D Weathering is always a risk for a producer--what is enough or too much or too little? I prefer to use chalk, which can be mostly removed if I don't like the overall effect.

Cute is good. Cute sells boats. Handsome is also good, for bigger boats like the Santa Fe tugs (or PRR or B&O or SP, come to think of it).

Would love to see the "Northwestern" from Deadliest Catch. http://fvnorthwestern.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/northwestern_two.jpg
But yes those boats are adorable.
Wish I had room, cause id love to do a coast line or even a intermodal dock so I could buy your 375' Container ship... That is a nice kit...

I suspect there would be licensing issues with the Northwestern, as it is a "star" of the show. I considered it, went to their website and thought, "Hmm, here's a commercial venture." It's actually a fairly big boat, custom built. IIRC, it's 123 feet long, extended from its original 113. I believe someone ran into problems offering a model of one of the other boats back when the series started..

BTW, John, I do have the Indianapolis under development. A very long ship at 610'. I've ordered the gun barrels in brass, and gotten up to the 02 deck so far. It will be an interesting ship. I wonder if anyone will ever buy it.
The Atlanta class has also been under development.
