Pretty sure they accidentally have the Virginian cupola on the Penn Central body. It's doubtful that these would appeal to the majority of (if any) Railwire members, but there must be a demand for them or they wouldn't offer them.
That's different. Speaking of the Kato caboose, it there a prototype for it or is is a total foob (made from some prototype-accurate parts, like the cuppola)?
I designed the Kato "shortie" caboose and here is the straight poop on it:I photographed, measured and drew up a Belt Railway of Chicago transfer caboose car that was on display at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL.It was a Morrision standard car that was assembled from modular components. Very similar cars were built for the Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis (TRRA) and the Long Island, with B&M and others having close look-alikes.Since the car was a "modular" design, it was possible to have it in any length and configuration. There was to have been a Transfer version (no cupola), a Cupola version (the one that got made first and only) and a Bay Window version (similar to L&N and a few other roads). The Cambria and Indiana had cars that were dead ringers for the car Kato brought out. Unfortunately, the sales of the cupola version did not meet the minimum production level in force at the time, so the rest of the cars were never produced. I don't know if they were tooled along with the cupola car.Charlie Vlk
The Railwire is not your personal army.
I've always liked the transfer version... Would be an easy kitbash....
