Eh, i gave in and got one on eBay.
There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

I'll back up what Mark said.  The "email me when back in stock" actually does work.  Pre-orders, not so much...okay it has never worked for me.

Sad, but I'm hooked on checking their website everyday to see what's arrived.  I go through fits if I miss a day...  :ashat: :scared:

Generally ...

At MBK new arrivals appear first when you click on say the N Scale section.

Re-stock does not generally go to the top of the "sort" (with some exceptions).

If you see something go out of stock that you want, click on the item, and under the "add to cart" area there's a link that says something like "email me when in stock" and if you click on the link and supply your email address you will get an email the moment that item is restocked.

The above is based on observation.

I'm the same way....nearly check their site twice a day at times. Sadly the bank balance wasn't where I'd have liked it to have been when I caught the F45s go up....

A few weeks ago I added MRP2015 to my cart at MBK.  Not wanting to pay for shipping for just a magazine, I also added a FVM B&O caboose.  I got distracted, and later in the day the page told me that an item in my cart sold out (the caboose).  So, I added an issue of RMC and some HO scale car.  I didn't purchase right away because I wanted to get some Kadee wheels and spent some time researching what to get.  Long story short, before I could submit my credit card info, the RMC issue and HO car were gone.  A few days later, I decided on another HO car, but then the MRP2015 issue (what I originally wanted) sold out too.

What this tells me is that business is booming at MBK!  Also that you should hit the "checkout now" button sooner if you really want what you ordered.  ;)

The very first lesson I learned in model railroading -- this was when I was 16 and just getting into N scale -- was, if you ever see anything for sale that you think you may ever want in the future, BUY IT RIGHT THEN.
The scale model world was quite a change in this respect from my old reliable same stuff available for years Lionel.
That advice which was so helpful back then (the '70s) is almost a rule now, what with reserves, advance orders, small basement-based companies that make only small quantities or go OOB, limited runs, etc. Model rail items sell out or go out of production very frequently.
