Were they ever Easter egg blue?

I've seen many photos and they usually look faded SP MOW light gray....

For the price I would have expected them to be more accurate. If the prototype pic shown is supposed to be what these are models of, then they basically freelanced them.

As far as the color goes, I suspect a color shift in the photography. I've never seen one of these in real life that wasn't light (usually rust-streaked) grey. I would even go with dirty white.
