I see that Fox Valley Models released a "B" version of the Norfolk Southern NKP Heritage GEVO (part #70453B). I was
wondering how it differs from the first release (part #70453)? I assume there must have been some sort of printing error
on the first release (which I purchased a while back). What was corrected on the "B" version?

Thanks,
William

Not sure

In the 1:1 version they had to redo the # board early on if I recall correctly

Maybe Matt will chime in

NS changed the reporting marks shortly after the engine was put in service.  the "B" version is the original (short-lived) style, the "regular" version is the currently in-service style.

Kudos to Fox Valley for offering both (although I only bought "regular").

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

IIRC they changed the number font on the real version to be more correct to the NKP (just like they redid the nose of the LV one) and FVM has done both versions of both units.

Here's the "regular" (second) version:

and here's the "B" (original) version.  The difference can be seen in the font of the cab side numbers and the placement of the "NS" mark.:

And notice that the "NS" font also was changed (as well as placement) in order to mimic the NKP's "N.Y.C. & St.L." logo - instead of a sort of Arial-like NS, you have a more Roman font with periods after the N and S.

I'm still pretty much awed by the job NS did on the Heritage fleet.  The whole idea was amazing, and the execution was darn-near perfect.  Still wish they'd hung on to the "J" and "A" and their steam shop for excursion runs, though . . .

Yet NS never corrected the biggest mistake of all... Painting the PRR unit in Tuscan when it should be in DGLE. That is, unless NS plans to donate it to Amtrak.

The PC unit was painted DGLE.

But at least the J is well on its way to returning to service.  Shots from Spencer Museum shows the work is progressing well!!!
