MT 905's on Athearn caboose?

Just wondering if anyone has successfully managed to install MT 905 z scale couplers on an Athearn caboose. I recently replaced the original boxing gloves with Accumates, and while I think it's an improvement (see photo below), it still leaves a lot to be desired. I tried fiddling around before but there seems to be too much give in the coupler pocket for the 905's to stay put.

Well, I just managed to get one in and it's as I feared. The coupler pocket is too big so the coupler ends up sagging and doesn't spring back into the center position. I guess I'll have to live with the Accumates.

My guess is that a U shaped channel piece and some shims placed inside the existing pocket would work.  Take a look at Gary's coupler thread in "best of" for ideas.
