How do I edit my posts?
« on: July 17, 2016, 09:40:32 AM »
I am a new member, so I am not familiar with the features and settings on this forum.  I wanted to edit one of my posts to add a claifying phrase, but cannot figure out how I am supposed to do it.  I read the "help" section on the editing feture, and found that there is an icon for editing, but that seems to be unavailable to me.  I have done a search on the subject and see that this issue was discussed previously, but I was unable to find what the actual intended situation is for posters to go back and edit their own posts.  Most forums allow that to be done to some extend, often with a time limit, these days.

I did find that my "back" arrow of my browser took me back to the "reply" screen with my post in the unsubmitted condition.  But, I was afraid to edit my post in that screen and resubmit it because it might cause erros somewhere that would make the post a "double" at best, or an even bigger mess.

I suggest that it would be helpful to put a "sticky" on the answer to my question so that others who are new members can find-out more easily what the proper procedure is for editing ones posts.

You may need to have a minimum number of posts in order to,have access to the edit function.

Heck, by 25 uneditable posts, you guys will assume I am a blithering idiot and not bother to read any more of them.  Hopefully, this one counts toward my total.

LOL, just be careful what you say!  (Or issue a correction in another post, which further will up your post count).

But trust me, there are good reasons for all these rules.

And, some of us sound like blathering idiots sometime with thousands of posts :)
