Question about LEDs in FVM Gevo Ferromex #4653

Hello,

Does the Fox Valley Models N 70271 GE ES44AC, Ferromex #4653 loco come with the newer Bright white LED headlights (DC board)? The white LEDs illuminate the ditch lights so much better than the older yellowish ones that FVM used in the past.

Thanks,

William

Yes.  Mine did.

(And BTW, if you're putting in a decoder, make sure you just remove the radiator portion like you're supposed to on these models.  The rear light tube is attached to the lightboard and you can damage it easily if you try to take the full shell off.)

On the same note, how hard is it to change to the brighter light? I have an older run GEVO with the yellow LED.

It's easy to do. I did all of mine. Just buy some replacement brigght white LEDs on ebay (I can't remember if I used 2mm or 3mm).

Snip off the factory LED's at the edge of the circuit board and then cut the new LED leads to fit and solder them in place. You have to bend down the front LEDs a bit to aim at the light tube.

It was easy and makes a world of difference.
