Interesting photo that would appear to be from 1971 that also appears to indicate containers on chassis:

From the weathering you would assume they weren't brand new.

I'm happy to be proven wrong, but due to SeaLands use of 35' containers in this era, the early schemes on a 40' body wouldn't appear to be accurate.

FWIW, I ordered a couple of the late scheme as stand-in container on chassis loads for my intermodal yard, until a better 40' exterior post container comes along (not expected any time soon). Sealand containers were far more common double-stacked or with-out chassis on flat car for the 90s Espee, so the models will be suitable as yard queens.

Trainworx is doing some nice trailers for us all... but they dont give much detail on what era the various trailers and paint schemes fit into.  I havent had much luck researching the intermodal front for Southern Pacific trailer fleet info, but was hoping someone out here would have some insight.  So with their latest run of SP trailers, what time frame do they fit.

I don't have my Morning Sun books handy, but the SP schemes are at least good into the early 80s:

By 1982/82 they were being replaced by 45' trailers and Golden Pigs

Unless I am reading the post wrong, the author is talking about 35' containers having been welded to chassis.  This would make the WOT 35' container a candidate for a starting point.  Unfortunately WOT has run out of its 35' chassis, though that wouldn't stop anyone from cutting down a 40' chassis.
