For such a big loco the model seems pretty simple. I like the bulked up draw bar so you don't see light under the firebox. And I love that a bunch of electronics aren't forced to be able to own one.

It is really sad I have no use at all for this.    Would like to see what NP loco Max will turn it into.

This loco, along with an appropriate excursion train, would fit perfectly in your time period.  Now, if your road never allowed the 844 (8444) to run on its rails, that might be a different qualifier.

I guess I'll have to write a rule book for my Kisatchie, Gulf & Northern railroad, then. I wonder if I'll allow the loco on KG&N rails...

I watched the video.. and this thing looks like it could be a HUGE success on a superbly designed model..

Like the Prototype.. The model appears to stand as the pinnacle of N scale steam locomotive design and execution.

I just wish I had reason to buy one..

         My only complaint is that the Oil Bunker is the current modern one also now on 3985 and for the time period Kato said the locomotive represented the old type bunker mainly just a fuel fill and a vent would be used. The viedo showing inside the tender would indicate that the bunker is molded as part of the body. If so too bad if it were removeable ,think Athearn, then you could install or fabricate and old style one or even a coal bunker. Otherwise the pilot model is really impressive. Nate Goodman (Nato). I've looked at the video frame by frame, and there appears to be fixtures on the inside under the oil bunker on the inside that may indicate the top of the oil bunker is snapped on and is a separate piece.  I can't tell for sure, but it looks like this may be the case (and I hope it is).  Perhaps further info coming out of Kato USA will answer this question.
