RDC-1 and RDC-2 Questions...
« on: May 31, 2014, 07:41:04 PM »

I'm thinking about getting a few RDC-1s and RDC-2s. I was wondering, were they used all over the country, in just large cities, or in only certain geographical areas like the East coast? I decided I don't need any RDC-3s or -4s.

Thanks for any help.

Hmm... I think I'll get
some RDC-10s...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

The GN used their one RDC-3 to serve two routes, Billings-Great Falls and Great Falls-Butte, at the same time.  These were rural, secondary mainline runs of several hours each, and it made both round trips every day.  The NP used their RDC-2s and 3s on branch lines in eastern Washington and the Midwest.  Several roads used theirs in suburban/urban commuter service.  So they could be found in almost any service and region.  If you want them, there's bound to be a job for them.

The GN and NP bought the RDC-3 for the RPO space.  If you don't need that, but can get an RDC-3 at a good price, the room could always be converted to extra baggage or LCL freight space.

WP's pair of RDC2's were used for tri-weekly service from Oakland CA to Salt Lake City UT specifically for making local stops at smaller depots the California Zephyr didn't.
Can't model worth a darn, but can research like an SOB.

Thanks for the replies and info! It appears I won't be too far off if I get a few RDCs.

Hmm... doesn't RDC mean
"Really Don't Care"...?
