What got you started in "N" scale?

I recall my older brothers getting a pre-fab layout (twice around, up & over) for Christmas in the early 60's. I think it was Tyco. Anybody remember those?

Got mine for Christmas 1965 - noisy as all getup.  Styrofoam with 1.5" pins to hold the track.  Brass rails that turned green when we moved from PA to CT in 1967.
Went on to a 4x8 layout with my brother after the move.

that n-scale layout you saw at Huntington at our annual thanksgiving show was probably our what is known now as the cantington ntrak layout.  2 of us started it in 1975 after seeing the large ntrak layout at the rails alive in 75 nmra convention in Dayton, ohio.  we had two 4' modules, 2 corner modules and a connecting plank across the back.  gthat has morphed into a 14' x 32' appalachinan themed ntrak layout today, nearly forty years later. and a 13'x36' n home layout.
