While the M1 has truly been a fiasco, I'm willing to give any manufacturer that goes to this much trouble to "get it right" a chance.  I hope they are great, because another high-quality competitor in N scale would be terrific.

I don't think calling BLI a "competitor" here is entirely accurate. They're delving into things that have never been done in N scale before. We need those kinds of manufacturers even more than direct competitors!

Good time to be a PRR modeler.

 I'm not one but I am wanting a Baldwin centipede set.

I can't help but wonder though why they didn't choose a more iconic PRR diesel like the passenger shark?

In my mind the logistics would have made for a faster turnaround from design to dealer shelf..

Maybe because the centipedes were used by several railroads, not just PRR.  The Baldwin passenger sharks were just a PRR model, so unless your freelancing a railroad have limited appeal to other modelers.
