running down an interesting prototype

Saw these on the E&LS yahoo group yesterday:

I asked about them and was told they had "always" been like this.  They are used for some sort of log service up there, and may be of C&NW origin - though the orange paint would suggest ICG.

Anyone got a good suggestion for a 13 panel N scale gon to build one from?

There may not be an 'origin'.  Here's what looks like the agreement to buy them new.

As for building them, I think you're looking at a scratch build, but one that's pretty straight forward.

I think Jason has the right idea scratchbuilding them would be pretty easy.That is if you can get some dimentions of the car.More pics would help too. :D

You could use the Athearn/MDC Thrall gon as a starting point.  Cut it down and shave the horizontal ribs off the two panels at the ends.
