Ryans tower

I am building Ryans tower from https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=30786.0 I am having difficulty determining how the support rods are woven into the uprights. Is anyone familiar with this kind of structure or possibly have photos that depict this more clearly?

That photo is of Erie Railroads AC tower in Marion OH. If you search that you will find tons of photos. The tower is still standing and has been preserved.

here are 3 more shots that Ryan sent me, that were not included in original sketch set:






Bear in mind that I did not draw the version that was on support legs. I would guess that they could be constructed from Evergreen #291 angle, similar to the method shown in the shrunk version of the New River mine (https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=31024.0). Good luck.

That middle photo where the tower is lower. That is after it was moved across the tracks and preserved. It was owned by 4 different railroads, but Erie owned 43% of it, so the Erie paint job.

Thanks for posting these pics Gary they help me out a lot as they are a more straight on view and I am able to better visualize the crossbars. Now to decide what too use for those crossbars and center buckles...hmm... :D

I dunno, had it wrong though (guessed).

AC tower
NYC  29%
C&O  15%
PRR    8%
Erie    47%

These are the 4 railroads that crossed here.


There was a tower at the end of my road where the B&O crossed the Erie. It was 78% owned by Erie and 22% B&O. For Erie it was "P" tower, B&O called it "RT".

I finally finished this signal tower. Making the legs and crossbars as well as the stairs was definitely a learning experience for me.
