I know nothing about the model tractor making business but I have to ask. Could you make the front axle separate from the tractor and then include a row crop and tricycle axles? The buyers then could install the tires on either axle and then the tractor? Just a thought.

Jimmo's vehicles generally come with separate wheels you have to apply, but not axles as they are cast resin.  So the wheel clusters are an idea.

I am working towards the possibility of axles on my new vehicles where the kit builder has the option. After having a conversation with Carter Fritschle a while back about why one would want movable wheels I set out to make it possible. My new line of trucks will feature this option. At this time it is still in the development stage.

Just to let you all in on where I'm at with this thing, since I have no drawings or access to an actual JD2040, I have purchased and am currently waiting for an Ertl 1/87 scale model to use as a basis. If any of you are familiar with this model, that's what I'm starting with.

My methods are evolving. Hopefully successful as I'm trying some new ideas. This tractor project is going to be interesting.

I have several new products coming down the pike. Obviously I will be using my second generation International S-series 4000 cab/hood. And later a crewcab version. I also have an S-series 8100 cab/hood in the works.

You can also expect an International DuraStar crewcab in the near future. Because of it's large curved windshield it will feature vacuum-formed glazing and a full interior. Expect a reborn version of the regular DuraStar cab and chassis as well.

BTW, that Showcase International you reviewed earlier was not an 8100. It's only a medium-duty truck, even with that huge crane. It's either a 4700 or 4900. Because it's a class eight truck the 8100 uses the same cab as the 4000s but the hood slopes down at a steeper angle and the headlights and fenders are about 8 inches lower.

I haven't forgotten the '60s and '70s International fans, a couple of Loadstars (possibly a Cargostar) are in the works. And I won't leave you to your own devices when it comes to windshields.

I also have some new structure kits coming up that I'll talk about later.

Ah, it would figure you have a new Cargostar as my RMM kitbash is nearly complete. Any hope for an Autocar or vintage 80's Volvo? These were used heavily up here in the northeast for municipal work, especially after the Volvo takeover of Mack.

My Cargostar is still quite aways up the road so don't let that deter you. I would be interested to see what you did with that RMM Loadstar to convert it into a Cargostar. I have a couple of them and my thoughts were that they are not very good representations of the classic COE. I tried to disassemble one of them and almost destroyed it as the glazing was glued in crooked and did not want to come out. It's still in there. It's one of the reasons I decided to do my own because I wanted a better model.

Yeah, it took me awhile to find the tractor!  And I still cannot tell for sure who the manufacturer was.

          The Manufacture was good old  out of business "Burt Industries" in Florida. The tractor model is a Ferguson of some sort, that's as far as my tractor knowledge is except for old Farmal had a large toy one and a "Wheel Horse" garden tractor. Sorry we have not taken any close ups of that scene since I replaced the Athern Jonny Deer that I first had there. Red just looks better and more Tractory or call it what you will  to me.                  Nate Goodman (Nato). Or maybe a Gray & Red Ford, ok!

Thanks for the info.  I have a few of the Burt Industries models.  Neither one of the "Ford" tractors I got looked all that much like a real Ford tractor.  I painted them red to represent a Massey Ferguson and an International.   

However, the small square baler was a very good representation of a John Deere baler.
