Anyone need a Mack for Parcel Service?

Just a quick up on a couple projects that I am working on in the 3d arena.  I don't think I have even touched a train in this calendar year.  Yikes.

First, I have a single axle Mack Vision that I deliberately made for pairing up with Trainworx parcel service trailers.  I have a couple on order now, and should have them soon.  There is absolutely nothing else close to making a suitable tractor for these trailers, so I hope this will be a big winner.

Secondly, I have a couple versions of a Kinze grain cart, and was able to get some blue paint on them this week.  I think a white decal stripe around the top would finish these off nicely.

I don't know what magic you use to get them that nice, but great job!

I agree, Chris. I have a couple of HuskerN's items and they are not only dimensionally accurate and intricate but somehow he gets excellent results from Shapeways.

Great job. Your products make me wished I was modeling more of an agricultural area now.

That Mack Vision is just what I needed to model one of UPS' double 45' trucks.

I know you said earlier you focus on present day, but 60s era ag equipment and implements would be greatly appreciated.

There's plenty of 1960's era ag equipment still on the road :yikes: so maybe some is in the pipeline yet? :)

I have actually been thinking about other farm equipment that would be interesting to design for 3d printing.  A corn planter comes to mind as an obvious one, but the dimensions reduced to N scale might make it very brittle.  It is best to stick to models with larger masses.

Of course, it seems like I am getting farther and farther away from trains.

Welcome to the vehicle creation zone.

I was thinking about setting aside one day a week just to work on my layout.

Without farm equipment, over-the-road trucks, etc, railroads would be in big trouble.  Those first and last miles are very expensive to serve by rail.  Just try running a spur to every farm and business!  In any era a properly sceniced model railroad needs a lot of vehicles, even if they're horses, wagons, and wheelbarrows.

With Deere and Athearn no longer working together, how challenging would a 4020 be?

JD 4020?  I need 40-50.  :o

Needless to say I was disappointed Athearn started the N scale tractors with the oldest and worked up (and never got there).  There's multiple 1/64 4020s and Athearn did do one in HO that looks nice.  If nothing comes along, I'm going to have to do something.

Universal Hobbies http://www.3000toys.com/catalog/products.asp?MFG=UNIVERSAL_HOBBIES&ORDER=M has a keyring series with several diecast farm-related vehicles as well as some construction vehicles very close to N-scale. Going by a standard keyring size, the tractors look a little large but the harvesters, etc. appear to be closer. So far I have the Komatsu WA470 wheel loader and PC210 excavator models. Once you lose those keyrings and chain loops, they scale out very close to 1/160.
