The GMD-1 is an elegant expression of form following function. It is not ugly. The BQ23-7 was ugly  :P

Well let's face it; the GP7 was no prom queen..... hey, not everyone could have the gracious yet completely meaningless curves of the BL2...............
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

What was in the short hood? Looks like there is a stack. Heated toilets?

Best wishes, Dave
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Some GMD-1's had a steam generator installed for branchline passenger service - the short hood stack you see is for that steam generator.

IIRC, the units in the 1900 series were steam generator equipped, and the only B-B trucked units from the factory.

Does that cab look an awful lot like an SW1001 cab?

It's terribly low profile.

In the 1000s: battery boxes.  After the rebuilds, a crapper.
