The trick is to move fast and natural - it should take a second to do one.  If you do it slow, you get results that look like the handwriting in Primer.

I contacted Microscale and I received an answer from Scott Williams:

Hi Peter,

Microscale is open to all types of printing and we are always test new ways
to produce our decals. But, at this time and for the last 75 years
Microscale's waterslide decals are screen printed one color at a time. I
hope this helps you with what you were looking for.
