Well Ill kick this idea out there. At least one of the old hats/a$$ hats should have some ideas. I want it lightweight. I want it removable and I want to make it fairly cheap.
I want to be able to lift it out and be able to move the layout, ect. I was thinking plastic sheet, but then I need to make a structure to support it. Then that goes against the idea of saving weight.

Masonite.   You can get 3 16-inch wide strips from a 4x8 sheet.  Theywill bestiff enough to support their weight and are cheap  and easy to work.

How tight of a radius can you bend it down to?

depends on the thickness and your handiness with a table saw.  You can improve bendable radius by cutting SLIGHT kerfs into the back of the Masonits (not mor ethen 1/2 the thickness of the masonite) in the location where you want to flex it.
