Finally added some walls inside my tunnel.  Was looking a bit sad originally, but I think this definately improved it.  Lined the visible area with WS cut stone retaining walls.  Colored them with a Polly Scale E/L Gray wash and then added an India Ink wash.

Modeling the L&N, well at least a few times a year.

David, your rubber rock scenes are getting better and better and better.

Regarding the Best of Show, thank you all for the kudos! As it happens, that is the first award I have ever won for my modeling. Ever. (Of course, since I've never entered any of my modeling into contests, it perhaps explains the lack of awards.)

Nice David, I love it. that would be perfect to watch something run around when you want to just run a train. Not sure if its the camera or whatever, but the tree colors are perfect to me for Spring. I just looked out the window here and perfect match.. I would be interested in the details on them!

Brian, that's an old photo I posted. I'm still working on a big batch of new photos to include in a massive new update to the website, since I compressed about five months of work into five weeks. Considering the layout is cosmetically 99.8% complete, I have a lot of ground to cover.

With respect to the trees, most of the information can be found starting with this page: http://jamesriverbranch.net/part_19.htm

Way to go David on the best in show! Sounds like you're like me and don't enter in your work (keeping it to yourself)  :)

Love the tunnel walls David, and can't say enough about how well you placed those rubber rocks.

And Lee, for some reason I'm totally loving that simple girder bridge. Its just screams classic urban scene.

My James River Branch layout won Best of Show at the National Z Scale Convention in Denver this weekend. Woo hoo!

This news does not surprise me one bit. It's a beautiful work of art.

With all the talk about rapid prototyping, I decided to pull out some photos that havn't been seen in years:

Mark4Design GP38-2 shell on an Atlas GP40-2 chassis
These pics are awesome  :o What did you use for ground cover? Is that scenery express grasses?
