Springfield, IL NMRA Regional Convention and Layout Tour

March 8-11 the NMRA's Midwest Regional Convention is in Springfield, IL. Convention speakers include Andy Sperandeo, Allen McClelland and Tony Koester.

My layout will be on the tour and my favorite photo is here (BTW the Little Debbie sign and her namesake are gone--life is good!):

That Sunday is the annual local train show and swap meet at the State Fairgrounds --300 vendor tables in 35,000 sq feet. Always a good time.

While in Spfld visit the Disney designed Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum (1 million visitors in it's first two years), Lincoln's Home, Tomb, log cabin and church pew. Also the train station where he left for Washington and a lot of NS, UP and Amtrak action.

Very exciting to have a show in Illinois, and Springfield to boot!! 
Sounds as if there are several other full day adventures available.  Lincoln Library is worth a full day.
The Lincoln Home and such.
New Salem was not on your list, but also worth a visit assuming they are open.

Thanks for the reminder and I finally think I can get the days off of work!  Going to try and get registered this week and looking forward to seeing you and your layout again.  It's been a few years since Bob and I stopped by.

A reminder of this weekend's convention and swap meet. Regrettably I had to pull out of the layout tour line-up since I just got out of the hospital today having had a pacemaker installed and with a very sore chest. Darn!

The layout was cleaned and ready to go. Any forum member visiting in the area is welcome anytime as soon as I heal a little.

Thanks, guys.  After feeling (and looking) like I was hit in the chest with a baseball bat I'm feeling a lot better today.  Still good that I'm not on the tour because I wouldn't be much of a host yet.
