Texture Crackle

Made a trip to Michael's with my wife after Christmas so she could buy a few things with a gift card she received.  While ther, I looked around for some Distress Crackle Paint which they did not carry.

However, I did run across this.



Comes in clear, and various colors including a light blue, green and red.  Here's the cap which show how it is suppose to look.



Stuff runs about $8 per bottle but there is a fair amount and should last awhile.  It is quite thick, almost like a plaster and a regular brush will not work.  I know I tried.  I had a small piece of wood lying around that I practiced on.  Results were not too encouraging but I'll try to do some more later maybr on plastic.

Also for into this stuff has a slight ammonia smell but not overpowering and it also dries very fast/

hum . . if you can tint it, might make for some really good, buckled and dying blacktop roads . . . .

Yes, you can tint or paint it.

Yes David, that's what I was looking for but they didn't have.  Found this stuff instead and decided to give it a try.

Took a quick look at some YouTube how to videos. Most of the people use a sealer first. Perhaps the texture is too tightly adhered to the wood to crackle. Maybe it would work on styrene without a sealer but it seems like it needs to be able to contract as it dries. It will be interesting to see what you come up with. The various artists mediums are really interesting and relatively inexpensive for experimentation.
