The Rio Grande hopper tempts me:

Here's the proto for the one MTL did:

I understand D&RGW added block style reporting marks some time in the 70s ...

A not so dirty sister unit in 2005:

Here's a B&O M-61A in the same scheme.

As you can see, completely different except for the door width.  This is a bit frustrating, since they could have done a correct car easily if it had been the double door body!

I think I'll have to pass on this release.

Hi Aaron,

Another MTL near enough is not good enough model. I can understand that they are trying to sell product but when you put yourself up there with the best this is not good enough. When they do good it is exceptional but when they do this it is bad.

It is, by today's standards, making them look more asinine each time they pull that hat trick. Back in the days when they were the only game in town it could be more easily overlooked; now, not so. What makes it even more annoying is that MTL has to, by now, gotten its money's worth from the old PS1 molds, and should not only be ready to retire them as much as kinda "owe" it to those who provided fiscal "support" via almost-good-enough cars all this time.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life.
When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
 I wrote ‘happy’.
They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”
 -- John Lennon
