If at all possible, take the idea of wrapping the column in walls and making that industry #4 with a loading dock on the front thus opening up more space on the left for #5 and #6.

I would definately make use of that column as part of a industry or a stand alone industry even if it did not get rail service.

I have made some changes to the layout to reduce the switch cost and tried to use the less is more approach. I also incorporated some suggestions I have received along the way. The column will not be wrapped as an industry. Here is the latest revision. I am also including the file to play with on TrainPlayer. What do you think?

Unless there's a elevation change for Industries 5 and 6, or you just like switching puzzles, industry 6 could have it's own turnout.  I'd probably remove the right most turnout at industry 4 and make it a stub.  Then re-align the industry 5 track to remove the 'S' curve.

There's a greater variety of industry size. The column serves as a large industry accessed from the siding along the back. The yard is angled to add interest.
