Nothing to be excited about.  An RS1 without its cab and exhaust stack and a large gap in the handrails where the cab should be... no wonder they are going without any bids.  I know that, even if I was interested in The Rock, I wouldn't waist my time nor money.

Just a quick update as I was watching this on that auction site. Some schlep (not me, honest) bought this thing for $98 + s/h. Did I mention he is a schlep?

He probably just wanted something unique to go with his circus train.

C'mon, Brian, admit it.  You're disappointed that you were outbid, aren't you?   ;D

I would pay extra for the rapido couplers myself!!!

If you want crapido couplers I have a TON that I would be more than willing to trade you for some knuckle couplers!! I even have about a dozen pairs of trucks with rapidos still on them!

This auction had me scratching my head:

http://cgi.ebay.com/WWII-HAYATE-ZERO-60FT-FLAT-CAR-N-SCALE-CUSTOM-NEW-/360320963090?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item53e4cd9212

Obviously, that's a captured Japanese plane that's being shipped for study or "reverse engineering."  I sure hope they feathered the prop before running down the line.   ;D

Anchor chains over the wing edges is insulting and destructive to anybody that has respect for aircraft .

The flatcar looks like the underframe to a 60' boxcar or something...

I have been to the spot where the famous Akutan Zero crashed. This is a little known but fascinating story of WWII.

I thought it was being shipped to Wright Patterson AFB for the museum?

Nicely done, but this falls into the whimsical rocket on a flatcar for me .. During WW2, these would have been covered with tarps for shipping .. and the only modern planes I know of being shipped on a flatcar are those Boeing jets ..

There's a shot of a Grumman Widgeon being flat-cared on an SP flat in 1964, in Morning Sun'd SP Color Guide  V2. Wings are open crated with the crates strapped to the car. Does that count as a modern aircraft.

Dave, I gotta ask, what is at the site of the Zero crash? A statue of Koga-san, or of a Zero? Or (zzzzzz...) a plaque?

Just a seismic station to help monitor Akutan volcano. We named the site ZRO in recognition of the significance of the site. I tried to find a photo but this station was installed in the early days of digital cameras and I can't find my slides.  Here is the data stream for all the armchair geoscientists.

The wheels look like they have some track time.  How can it be new?

I usually don't buy from sellers that have so many rules, especially when they are multi-color and In all caps.

Most of what this seller sells has nothing to do with trains.
