Does the shell come off easily? Anybody install the decoder yet? Is the plug in easy to get to or is it under something.

Hey Look!  No windsheild wipers Cast into the cab glazing.  Another plus!

I really hate that Kato does that. :D

I hate it when ANY company does this.   :P

It is disgusting and looks ugly.  I second the opinion.

I saw the FVM GEVOs at Cocoa Beach. They looked great. A great coup for Matt.

Here are some before & after shots of an FVM GEVO with factory handrails, and then with scale handrails added.

Handrails are made from 0.008" phosphor bronze wire, and stanchions are GMM.  I used paste solder to attach the handrails to the stanchions, which works out better than wire solder or CA.  Safety chain is etched by JnJ.

The only difference in these shots is the scale handrails.  I think they lend an enhanced sense of mass and power, even when viewed in-person.  I still have a pile of detail parts to add, including the factory-supplied parts plus some BLMA (mirrors, MU hoses, air hose, etc.).  I'm thinking this also wants cut levers, scratchbuilt from wire.  And weathering, of course :)

And just for grins, here it is compared to the factory Athearn SD75M:

The scale handrails look great but the ones that come with the gevo are just fine for me. I see no reason to change.

Ed, very nice job, and great pics. Thanks for sharing.

If Athearn gives a damn about "N" scale, they're going to have to step "up to the pump" to be equal in quality with Matt's Gevos.

Once again, great job Matt, and thanks for a new, quality loco

Finally got to see one yesterday - and they are really neat. Definitely in for a pair of the NS units and maybe a KCS.

Just "one" NS will be really hard to do.
