A great shot of RRer's doing their job... and an aspect of RRing that has vanished. The HH GP30 is cool, too!

I'm glad I'm not the only person who thought the conductor looked like Hunter S Thompson.

Also, a really cool photo.

Are you referring to the nose of the GP30 or the conductor's head, Lee?

By the way, I thought the conductor kinda looked like Dave Vollmer at first glance and wondered what the heck he was doing on an N&W unit.  Had he warped space-time and gone back to an era when the PRR and the N&W considered merging?  ;D

lol. I think it looks closer to Dave than Gonzo.

The picture says June of 77, and IIRC, PRR and PC were both gone by then. What I would like to know is what is causing all that smoke? They got an Alco in that consist somewhere, and why is the Gp30 backwards?

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.

Man, now I got to look back at all my locomotive reference photos to see how many had extra handles on the cut levers.
