that would never work, i'd have to scratchbuild 3 rail in N scale - screw that.

on a bright note, i found an audition tape that Dave put together for a part time gig doing TV weather to fund his Conrail waffling.  here's a dandy screen cap from the tape.

How long will it be before they show us how to add DCC to a tree?

i have assembled two of the 5.5' sections and man, the layout is much larger than i visualized.  i think i'm in trouble with my wife.  when i get the next 11 section put together, see's gonna be ticked.  i might have to remove two feet :(

it will be ok.  she'll see how crazy happy the kids are when they get to watch and run the trains.  the 2 year old is already begging to watch trains on my computer when i get home from work, so she knows she'll have to deal with it.  i did promise to make the layout look nice.

i mocked up the main level above the staging yard - the rail is 57.5" from the floor.  it really looks nice and makes the small trains really seem larger.  the upshot is i can now fit a larger fridge under the layout.

too lazy to process the pictures tonight.
