Spanning a Door

I have recently run into the potential to expand my layout a bit.  Unfortunately, to do so, I have to span the door leading into the room, which has to double as a guest bedroom.  I've seen photos of several layouts that include lift bridges or swinging bridges to span that kind of space, but I've never tried building anything like it.  I'm not satisfied with the drop-leaf that I built for the current layout, specifically with the track alignment solution I chose, so I wanted to solicit other ideas.  Whatever I do needs to be able to be operated quickly and simply.

Show and tell time!  Please post photos and/or descriptions of how you have (or would) solve this problem.

Follow this link to see the innovative way that former N scaler Verne Niner used on his new On30 layout to solve the "door issue".
