Sealing Chalks with Future?

One of the biggest questions about my book is the lack of any weathering techniques using chalks.  I actually have a ton of chalks/powders to play with, and will be working on experiments shortly.

Has anyone used Future to seal chalks/powders?  It seems to me that the acrylic nature of Future would create a seal that won't alter the chalk underneath (like dullcote does).

So far, everything I've applied to chalk has changed its appearance, so I've always left it unsealed (with other consequences). But I've not used Future, so I will be very interested in the results of your experiments.

future has a glossy finish though... you'd need to then apply a flat on top of that.

Putting clear over chalks is like the same problem Chris has with gluing dirt.  Anything in liquid form over the top of chalk is going to change it's appearance.  You either have to figure out a way to put the glue under the chalk (hint, hint)  or just use chalk with some adhesive medium in it and try to not handle the model as much.
