On August 5, 1956, a group of railfans chartered a Montreal Tramways Commission elderly streetcar and toured the city's then extensive streetcar network, which extended well out into some suburbs.

Montreal had a number of sightseeing cars without roofs and with theater style seating. Sightseeing car No. 2 rumbles down a residential street between points of interest.

Montreal Tramways Commission sightseeing car No. 3 right in the heart of downtown Montreal, on St. Catherines St.

The patrons aboard MTC sightseeing car No. 5 can't see much aside from billboards at this intersection!

Next week, we'll take a break from our visit to Montreal to share some photos my daughter took of Flagg Coal Co. 0-4-0T No. 75 on its visit to the Florida Central last March.

Ok, last update we left off in Tehachapi and I fell asleep to the sound of loco's humming through town. The wife had a good night's sleep too, so thanks for the concern fella's.  ;)

After a feed, we came across a UP manifest heading east while we were loading up the car:

Knowing he'd just come up over the loop, we headed down towards Monolith to see if anything was going to approach the loop, and came across this BNSF hotshot:

After a few shots, we decided to turn around and see if we could catch him at the loop. We got there and there was no sign of him, so we continued on down to the Hwy 58 overpass and didn't sight anything. Gone? So, we shot back up to below Tunnel 9 and had our hotshot sneak up on me:

Surprisingly, he had an westbound earthworm on his tail, with plenty of CEFX hoppers for variety, midtrain and end of train DPU's.

More from SoCal's wonderland later.....

I caught this photo on another site, but I thought it might be of interest to a lot of us that linger on this site:

GP-7 with fresh paint!

It is on the Eastern Shore in DE, currently owned privately but stored on the DCL somewhere.

Lee, you up for a run east? :)

In other news....Rumor has it that we will be MU'ing two RS3m tomorrow on the Centreville line of the MD & DE. We have to shove about 70 cars to the end of the line. I am bringing the camera!

Hmm, all PRR Diesels had 4 digit numbers, most 1st generation hood units were in the 7, 8 or 9000 series. The font is all wrong for PRR numbers, too. Appears to have the color right, though.

And the wrong bell location, and a winterization hatch...

but it's still cool to see it!

I can only hope that in 40 years people are still wanting to put canopeners on stuff.
