As a teenager made a couple of trips to "Beantown", once alone to ride the last steam train from Boston to Portland and return, and again with my best friend en route to Cape Cod chasing trains and "wimmen".

In August 1961, PCC 3013 races through a cut on the Riverside line:

On April 21, 1956, PCC 3060 prepares to enter the subway. How about that '49 Lincoln?

In August 1961, PCC 3207 arriving the Highland Park station on the Riverside line. At the time, it was the newest electrified rail line in the USA, having been a B&A branch line.

Next week, more from Boston.

Nice shots!  We could sure use a lot more of that type of mass transit these days!  Everyone is worried about going green and taking cars off the road.  What was old should become new again!

Couple of photos/postcards from e-bay:

N1 #3000 (very first in the series) at Youngstown, OH (Brier Hill)

Heavy Pacific running through Warren, OH.

PRR Sharks at the center street bridge crossing in Youngstown. In the foreground are the P&LE/NYC then the Erie, Sharks are on the PRR. Behind them is the B&O. All 4 railroads crossed here and it has been dubbed "The busiest rail crossing in the world" But you know how that goes.

This one is not local to me, but the Erie had a station agent at all the cities listed. Wonder what color this is?

So Chris, you're working on models of all of those (except the sharks), right?

Well I have the N1 boiler mostly done. Just need to turn a sand dome with my new lathe. A Kato heavy mikes shell is here waiting for a MP 4-6-2 chassis. The delivery truck, hey give me time :P

Here's the stills from my big adventure with Brian on the Maryland and Delaware yesterday.  I really had a great time!  Thanks again, Brian!
