I have a fuel dealer on my layout that receives #2 heating oil. The only thing is, is that I am really only versed in Kaolin and LPG cars so I have no clue at to what cars would now be used to haul oil.
My time frame is 1996, so the car type can be no newer than October 1996.

A while back, I shot a car outside a oil dealer in Mount Joy, PA. They're prints, though. If I don't have doubles, I can scan them at work for you. IIRC, the car looked a lot like a Kaolin car, to my then-untrained eyes....

I think they use 16300 gal tank cars. Walthers and Atlas make models of these. Remember to add placards (UN 1993, I think) and KD double shelf couplers. I think the one's I've seen are UTLX and PPGX? not 100% on those, but close.

Atlas's 20-23K "general service" tank cars should be appropriate for hauling liquid fuels.
While not quite matching the Atlas ACF or GATX cars (different builder) these two cars placarded 1202 (Fuel oil or diesel fuel) appear to be about a similar size. Diesel/fuel oil could also be placarded 1993; gasoline is 1203.
