Dumb DCC question #352

I'm not sure BANTRAK is ready for two way radio throttles. Acquiring, dispatching, programming could lead to more trouble than it's worth.

Would like to have the 2.4ghz system with the option to turn off bidirectional radio.
Did you notice that in the FCC document filings the photos show a UR92 panel?

Having worked with devices that operate within the 2.4GHz range, my questions would be:  how will other 2.4GHz devices work within the same environment.  That is, I used some 2.4GHz wireless cameras and everytime my wife started the microwave it scambled the signal.  I also had problems with network wireless access points that operated on the 2.4GHz range and had operational problems while using the other 2.4GHz devices (cameras and microwave).

This probably wouldn't be an issue at a train show but what about home use?

It could be .. all those camera cars, the food vendors, other layouts

Thanks, very helpful input. I think I can safely say that I won't be needing the ability to have 120 locos "live" on my home layout. 

The main features I'm interested in at this point are consisting and the ability to control the loco lights.

It seems apparent from the above that I'll need to look the "ease of use" issue, and yeah that is very good advice find some folks that will let me "play" a bit.

While you're looking at the 'ease of use' issue, do yourself a LARGE favor and go to the mfgrs web sites and d/l the manuals for the units that you are interested in.  Read them and pay particular attention to procedures for doing chores like consisting, adding a unit to a consist, programming cv's, etc.  Some of those things are what separate an easy and fun experience from a PITA.
