I've been working more on that micro dot technique we talked about a few months ago, trying to get a more refined look.

Tom do you have a link that describes the micro-dot technique?

I really like the faded paint too.  Is that an airbrushed off-white?

There is a thread in here somewhere, but it is a foam brush with a little paint on it.  A light touch leaves dots, a heavier touch leaves a mottled texture.

The fade coat is an airbrushed light tan.

John,

The brush is just one of the foam brushes that you can pick up at home depot. I pull off and use a piece of it.

Tom, I try your technique. It works well, but I must practice a little more.

When I started with the technique, I completely over did it.  But, this taught me how to control it for more subtle variations.

Nice technique Tom.  Time for me to pull out a junk car and start practicing.

Oh, one more thing:

On some of the 'dots', you can see a little rust streak.  This is made by gently rubbing a brush damp (barely damp) with 70% alcohol straight down over the 'dot'.  Wait a minute or two for the paint to dry, or the alcohol will completely remove the dot.

"Hmm... they look like
learners' chopsticks..."

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.
