After 3 hours of carfull surgery today, I fixed the hinge on my laptop. I have been trying to stay off the computer for the last three weeks because I was afraid I would damage the screen. The hinge is structural on many Toshibas. This one held the motherboard and periferals to the plastic case, so this was almost like a spinal transplant.
At first I put the whole thing back togeather I had about 4 extra screws... not a good sign. Sure enough it overheated. I tore the whole thing down again, and found where three of them go. I also fixed and cleaned the cooling system.
Now that it is back togeather, the thing is running so much faster, due to its cooler running. The computer had a thick layer of dust covering everything, now that is gone. It feels almost new!
