I've been trying to think of what to do around a corner. A straight shot isn't a problem for me, since adding a profile board will take some of the boringness away from the constant depth. But going around a corner, in my opinion, should curve and not be just a 90 degree bend. I'm thinking that two layers of 1 inch foam or 1 layer of 2 inch foam overhanging a Lack shelf and radiused would look ok.
The Lack shelf is easy to install and remove. A modeler could install the brackets and swap out the shelf with another if his goals change. It's like a LDE, expect the construction hassle (benchwork, legs, etc) is removed from the equation.
I don't remember if I stated goals for this idea (and I'm too lazy to read page 1). So a few goals would be:
1. Using both lengths of the available Lack shelf, design a layout.
2. The trackplan should be organic in design and complement the rigid linearity of the Lack shelf.
3. The layout should fit into a small 10'x10' bedroom.
4. The clean look of the Lack system should be preserved, even when a backdrop is added.
5. The backdrop should provide a source of lighting, like the blue light ideas I talked about in my NSR article.
