Title: Time to pound Exactrail again...
Post by: ljudice on December 08, 2011, 04:25:17 PM
They've introduced a new gondola in HO the ex-Rock Island gons seen on the CRHS website....  Also good for RI, DTI and maybe others.  Also looks like a modified (heavy top chord) version of a more common design.

Time to pound them into submission to make this in N...

Send them a note and let them know. They have a bunch of new n-scale coming at the end of the month/beginning of next month now that their coupler box thing is done. Most of it will initially be the Modern Reefers and some reruns. But they mentioned that there will be new models coming into next year.

I'm hopeful, they've done some nice things so far in N....

We REALLY need some more 60-70's gondolas!

Seriously, if they produced in N what they did in HO, they would have the market cornered by now. I really like the new Evans car too. It looks a lot like a modernized Seico with large corrigated ends.

So:
52" gon
Evans/USRE 5277
Waffle
FMC 4000 gon
48' depressed flat

I'm getting a little depressed just thinking of it.

I know - but the best strategy is to push them - it can't hurt!

Guys,I've tried your approach and got ear tickling replies that they are "Committed to  N Scale and currently "upgrading" their  N Scale tooling yada, yada and more yada..Anyway in 6 months we should might see more  N Scale from ER..

It wouldn't hurt though for you to bombard Blaine Hadfield
with request for more  N Scale products.

I'm sure Blaine is getting tired of my monthly e-mails and would love to hear from you..

Technically, that would be pulling actually. You're pulling them into the market via need.

Oh man we need this gondola in N!! :o :o  I just mentioned the need for a  60's and 70's 100 ton gondola to Craig @ Bluford he said they have considered it but haven't comitted to it as of yet he said he would log my vote in favor of the gondolas. I mean these would produce endless schemes and heck they could even tool up hoods for them for coil service with dozens of road names! We need to get on Exactrail to do this 15 panel in N. If anyone has the e-mail to the big decision maker @ER let us know it so we can bombard them with requests for this gondola!

I have sent email via the contact form on their web site and have gotten personal replies from Blaine, so they do listen.  I'm not especially interested in this gon (sorry Lou) so I wouldn't feel right asking them to make it in N, but you should!

BTW, if I'm not mistaken, this gon is the cousin of a more common 15 panel gon without the heavy top chord???

I got blocked by EXR on a Facebook thread about a new HO product. I'm sure they have more than a couple of projects on the board.

I just sent him an e-mail requesting a 60's-70's era 100 ton gondola and also mentioned that the roadnames would be endless and how they could even tool up some hoods for steel service which would yield many roadnames.

Got a response to my e-mail from Blaine @ Exactrail here it is he says they have alot in development but not necessarily gondolas. :RUEffinKiddingMe:

Re: N scale gondola request

Thank you for your interest in ExactRail, and thank you for contacting me with your suggestion.  Without speaking directly to a 1960/1970's era gondolas, I can say that we have a lot in development.  I am quite enthusiastic about forging new ground in N-scale.  It is my view that ExactRail's all-new scale draft box is a quantum step in forward for the detail of N-scale models, and the dimensions of the draft box approaches the scale dimensions better than any other N-scale draft box with which I am aware.  This is the first of such improvements to our N-scale line.

I appreciate having had you contact me.

Best regards,

Blaine

But you might get a prototypical 50' waffle boxcar out of the deal, which isn't a bad trade-off no?

I'm jonesin' for these in N scale:

http://www.exactrail.com/fmc-5277-combo-door-box-car-cn (http://www.exactrail.com/fmc-5277-combo-door-box-car-cn)

CN, MDW, early ABOX... nice.

Above is my first choice, but the waffle would be nice, too. Still see the SOU waffles in Ajax, ON., on a weekly basis delivering southern pine to a local industry.

I still find it nutts we do not have an accurate 50' Waffle or Berwick box.

For ER's sake, I hope they are holding back some wicked awesomness

One should ask Blaine if he knows the dimensions of a scale draft gear first... and what the dimensions of their new box is, as well as that of other boxes on the market.

In the Jan/Feb issue of N Railroading they have an ad announcing a TTX Trinity 50' Hycube and more 4427's. It was a quick look but they are doing CNW, B&O and LV an another 1 or two I can't remember.

Awesome.

More grain cars.

Just what N scale needed.

MORE GRAIN CARS.

Can we please have MORE GRAIN CARS?

I don't think we have ENOUGH GRAIN CARS.

Maybe we could get every model RR company to produce several types of GRAIN CARS.

Maybe then we would have ENOUGH GRAIN CARS.

John, MT makes a coil load which fits into various gons.  I've got a couple and they ain't bad and would give you something different.
