I had the pleasure to run my train on the legendary N scale MODUTRAK at Milwaukee Trainfest. I brought a train I thought would be worthy of MODUTRAK led by a Pennsy Baldwin transfer unit. Many thanks to Bill Denton, Mike Skibbe and the entire MODUTRAK crew.

Thank you for making the trip Doug.
It was great to meet you and see that beautiful Baldwin in action!

Good to see you Doug. Loved hosting your train on the layout. We also hosted another train everyone might recognize !

From the way the music started off, I thought it was going to be a Batman train.

I've had good success writing "pseudo code" where I list the pinouts, variables and input/outputs, write......

Interesting, I might pursue it down the line if I write more....I keep saying this will be the last,

....If you were not planning that already, this is something you could do.  Put an ESU decoder in the throttle.   Then give it the same road number as a DCC loco on the track.
Now the sound comes out of your handheld and the sound will vary with the movement of the loco.....

Thanks for the input.  This throttle is for someone who is al DC so the throttle with a decoder won't work unless the command station is also in the throttle.  Actually thought about that option as with DCC-EX and the hardware it can run on that would be possible but there are better options since DCC-EX can put out a DC output and a DCC output at the same time (to different blocks).  The DC output can also be controlled via a phone throttle running EngineDriver.

I do have a sound decoder coming in today and have plans to use it somewhat like what you are talking about to run a loco on DC but put out all of the sounds that are possible with the DCC sound decoder.  More on that maybe within the week.

I started getting things ready for lighting on my NS SD70M-2 build. I've been using these resistor boards from Laisdcc on all my recent DCC installs and they really help keep things tidy under the hood. They come with 8 resistors from Laisdcc, but they're easily cut down with a razor saw if you only need a couple resistors. Running a wire from the + common is all that's needed.

Where are you sourcing that Laisdcc board? I did a quick search this morning and all the listings I saw were from overseas. I understand that it is a overseas company but wastn sure if you had a US supplier or not.

I wrapped up a TTX Triple 53 today. This was an N Scale Kits kit. TTX made over 1200 of these drawbarred 89’ car sets so they could carry 3 53’ trailers. I modeled one a little later in life based off of prototype photos.

Bill Denton-- Great video of the Silver Streak.  I watched it without sound but in my head I heard Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder running through the train.  The only disappointment is that the video didn't end with the train crashing through the wall of the Great Hall at Chicago's Union Station!
Best regards,

Roger

Nice! I made a few of these as well over the years (a couple from Alan Curtis flats, one from MT flats and my first from CC flats). I've always been fascinated by these cars!

I get them off their AliExpress page. https://shorturl.at/QpeJY

I haven't found a supplier in the US either, to reduce shipping time, but I haven't had any issues yet with AliExpress.

Be disapointed no longer, the owner of that model did a recreation of the scene on his own layout!

(He actually made the inside of his Union Station model removable so he can swap in the crash scene when needed)
