Even in autumn, Colorado is greener than many typical narrow gauge layouts suggest...  Score big for the static grass applicator!

Incremental Improvements:
I increased my staging yard capacity by about 20 cars.
I am amazed at how a 18-20 coal drag appears to dwarf the 10-12 car version.

Eh...  Couldn't help myself.  Started roughing in the terrain behind Aspen.  The far right corner where the mine structures are will be a significant mountain with tunnels.

After more than one year, I got off my duff this afternoon and started working on the former SAL station in Aberdeen again.  More brickwork and the complicated multi-pitched roof coming soon (I hope).

Dave I found these at HOBBY LOBBY and using them as evergreen's in Winter scenes of leaf-less trees. Check

The same company makes "forest edge" trees that look like birch or could be altered to look like Aspens.

@chuck geiger, thanks for the tip.  I have proper flocking for the almost 200+ bottle-brush pines I already have.  I just haven't applied it yet.  For aspen I have scads of Supertree armatures just waiting for white trunk paint and yellow flocking (with orange highlights).

Those trees look familiar.  I'm pretty sure they are this product http://www.ebay.ca/itm/10Pcs-9cm-Green-Pine-Trees-Model-Street-Railway-Park-Garden-Scenery-Scale-Layout-/311440634213?hash=item48834ef165:g:aYAAAOSwCypWpwKv.  They are OK but very regular and the plastic armature will note easily deform.

When Tranzrail began large scale coal moves from our West Cost to the East Coast port of Lyttleton, they were unloading equally as crudely, using an excavator.

Another update on my 2 ex-Cartier 'Bigs'. Truck mods are done and a couple of other bits tidied up.

This shows how I modified the Atlas Dash-8 trucks to resemble Alco's Hi-Ads. This is the best of 3 versions I've made over the years.

Also, utilizing the Dash8 trucks like that, will save you a lot of unnecessary headaches!!

Picked up a box of random buildings last weekend at the train show in Asheville. So this weekend, after sorting and figuring out what I had, I split one of the industrial buildings down the middle (actually a little of center. Looks like and older warehouse from Savannah, so should make a nice addition on the shelf layout...

I haven't had much time to model lately but finally managed to finish these three UP SD70M's that have been on my desk since late spring !

Can't wait to get my hands on this.
I saw a video of one of these Baldwin "beauties" delivering transfer freight from Phladelphia to the PRSL yards in Camden.
It will serve the same purpose during my op sessions: Philly (staging) to the Pavonia Yards in Camden.
