This is currently unfinished but operational. I built it on a 48-inch 1x6 using Atlas turnouts and flextrack. Rolling stock is AZL and MTL; for switching I equip the cars with MTL 905 couplers, plus drag springs to simulate 'brakes' (and also to overcome the 'slinky' in the MTL couplers... same thing as occurs in N scale). These AZL locos have the factory DC board (no DCC) and run on a plain old 9v battery with an inexpensive PWM controller.
Definitely I will need to upgrade that inkjet printed backdrop with a higher quality print. (And yes, that is the image that
@GaryHinshaw previously posted, shamelessly cribbed by yours truly.) Also looking to try out
@turbowhiz 's new couplers to see how they work with Z.
