This is Poplar NC and the bridge that spans the Nolichucky River. This area was devastated by the floods on 9/27/24 and the bridge was completely washed away. This tragedy in a strange way has rekindled my need to get this model RR up and going. Along with that it has also caused me to want to replicate with extreme accuracy the elements of the Clinchfield. So, I decided to hand craft the bridge piers and attempt to get it as close as I can.

Some recent work I’ve done the last couple of nights… I may redo the abutment.. I am still researching these, there are just no good photos that I’ve found of them. Not bad for my first effort.
