Email dropped in this morning - three sets of paired sleepers, for preorder now and delivery next year.

If you follow the links and read the descriptions,   one of these cars are stated as being “Classic” which generally means that for RailSmith that that are very close to the prototype.

NCL sleepers are prototype.
GN are Classic

When it comes to RailSmith, even their “Classic” cars are usually
closer than anything that you can buy.

Unless you plan on building each of the cars individually, they are about as close as you can buy.

The GN and NP duplex sleepers were similar but had the vestibule on opposite ends.   Rapido made the correct GN car years ago.

Sort of correct.  The Rapido model was a Canadian duplex sleeper.  While the vestibule was on the right end for GN, there are other construction differences.  And the bunk windows are missing.

Also, if I recall correctly, the NP cars had 6 roomettes where the GN cars had 4 sections.

NP:  8 duplex roomettes, 6 roomettes, 4 bedrooms.
GN:  8 duplex roomettes, 4 sections, 4 bedrooms.  (Or 3 bedrooms and 1 compartment?)

Just for the sake of complete-ness, the CN cars were 8 dup-rmt, 4 bedroom, 4 section, with the vestibule at the duplex-roomette end of the car.

Looks like the same floor plan as a Chateau sleeper?  (VIA ex-CP)?

The Chateau is a Budd fluted car  and the CN 'E' Sleepers were smoothside built by Pullman Standard.

Via gives the current accommodations as

3 sets of upper/lower berths, 8 single bedrooms, 1 triple bedroom, 3 double bedrooms, 2 common washrooms and a common shower

Wiki gives the original configuration as-

As built each contained eight duplex roomettes, four sections, three bedrooms, and one drawing room

Close, but not quite identical configuration.  Did Rapido do the Chateau cars as part of the Canadian?

The GN removed the small bunk windows from SOME of their cars, so one really needs to check pictures if that matters to you.

Yes, the Chateau sleepers were included in Rapido’s The Canadian set (and yes, CP’s name for the train was “THE Canadian”) (fun fact).

I'd love to have a Chateau sleeper, as they ran in Amtrak in 1973/74, but not enough to buy an entire passenger train to get one.
