Got my second decoder install done today. I had it roughed in last week but needed to add the light connectors and shortened up a lot of the wires. It’s an ESU 58821 in an older Athearn RTR GP35 that is now going to be an ex-BN GP39V. TCS KA-4 and a big speaker in the free area over the rear truck as well. The motor may get replaced in the future as it’s making a clicking noise going forwards but overall it runs great so I’m not worrying about it at the moment. Now to start detailing the shell to a GP39V!



Everything fitting under the hood; light connectors are a bit tighter than I’d prefer but will work just fine


And video proving it runs and that it sounds great!

Glyndon station is largely finished as this point.  Installed cupola, ridge caps and used Krystal Klear for window glass this evening.  Installed the railing in front of stairs as well.  Just don't look around back.  Still need brick and timber supports for the overhang back there.  Big round of applause is due for @John for doing all the hard work with the 3d drawings.

Very nice modeling. I know it’s probably accurate to the prototype, but I personally detest graffiti so much that I refuse to model any of it even though I heavily weather everything else.

Little more work to tidy up the fascia and add a sky board, and it will be ready to debut at N Scale Weekend in September.

On a roll this weekend,  cleaned up around the basement and hung my display cabinet backbup.  Filled up quickly.

Water in the canal and scenery on the banks. I couldn’t find any photos from my time frame to verify the water level of the canal but I’m really happy with the scene so no one prove me wrong please 

Looking very nice!  I notice no big concave meniscus on the edges of your "water" nor resin flowing up into all the shoreline details.  What product did you use??  Did you apply your static grass after or before your resin pour??  Some construction info would be beneficial to many of us.

Going through my Google images and thought this was a cool progress montage. I'm making more headway on the main part of the layout. The goal is to really cover up all the pink and have all the major structures built and placed before moving onto the little shelf side of things.

I thought about that before beginning the project.......

You would lose all the grab iron detail and the detail on the skirting. 

The grab irons could be replaced easily; not so much with the molded on detail on the skirting.

Maybe I'll pick up another one and try that just to see what it comes out like.

Maybe use a narrow chisel blade to remove just the corrugations and not touch the skirting detail or the door railings.

Union Station Products makes sides for that car (I think, we are talking about a plan 7551A, correct?), which could be used to replace the side, while keeping the skirting if it is already correct.  You would need to add grabs, but otherwise, should yield a smoothside version of the car.   (Although, you might want to look at the current Union Station thread before ordering). EDIT: (the modeler who was having difficulty making contact with USP has been contacted by USP, and it's all good.)

I was on shift Saturday and Sunday this week, given I work 48 hour shifts, I didn't get any train related stuff done until ingot home today (monday).
That being said, I did start to glue some foam down for some of the terrain work on one of my oNeTrak modules.
I also took a pair of readers digest crap covered hoppers, and converted them into readers digest crap, that can actually be used. They still look like crap, but I may continue to work them just for ahits and giggles.

Yes, the current kits were completely re-done as 3D printed bodies with printed and etched details, and they are available from Kaslo Shops at their website.

Man, that long shift must have left you really tired, but it also resulted in this amusing post. Kind of like Lemosteam's "piling the grapes", which got immortalized in a banner image. Thanks for the chuckle Mike!
