SW7s:

"Stealth": https://broadway-limited.com/collections/stealth-emd-sw7-switchers-n-2025

NW2s:

"Stealth": https://broadway-limited.com/collections/stealth-emd-nw2-switchers-n-2025

I'll probably pick up one of the SW7s, despite the fact that I never saw a switcher on the N&W growing up (on the Pokey - N&W used mostly RS-11s and GP9s to switch the yard in Williamson, WV), also despite the fact that the two units BLI is doing spent most of their careers in St Louis.

This is one where I just have to shrug my shoulders, when I look at BLI's AT&SF 'models'.  The real AT&SF NW-2s were early versions, with the original hood design (which comes straight out from the cab a couple feet before angling up) and no louvers on the doors.  The BLI is the post-war version of the NW-2, with the revised hood, and louvers on doors- the last of several 'phases' and conveniently virtually identical to an SW7 on the outside.  The Kato version is much, much closer to what AT&SF had, to my eye, identical to the last AT&SF units built in 1943.  Now, if we could just get Kato to do them in zebra stripes....

Aw crud, they're doing an NKP SW7, in the earlier stripe scheme.   Now I want one :(

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Yeah, they tooled one phase but are selling it for all phases. They've never been a detail focused manufacturer, but it seems to be working for them.

Thank you BLI for doing a RDG Co. NW2.

And note that they're doing the yellow journals too!

I could go for a few TH&B NW-2's, too bad they never seem to get any attention... they'd sell pretty quickly, never done before and everyone loves the To Hell & Back.

Thanks for pointing that out - led me into this rabbit hole: http://yardlimit.railfan.net/emd/spotting/index.html  :D

So basically, the BLI NW2 is a Phase V.

Yep.  The major visual difference between the late NW2 and the early SW7 is the SW7 having a larger radiator screen on the nose.

Agreed. I customized a LL shell for TH&B 51 about fifteen years ago and never got paint and decals on it. Thanks for the reminder! Hmmm, now I need to find it and post a pic.

Well, it's the wrong hood for a TH&B NW-2... but I imagine we'll not be seeing Kato releasing one with their more correct version.
