For all the shade I’ve thrown at Broadway Limited, I’ll say they’re usually really good at getting things out on the timeline they announce. I don’t model Santa Fe, but I’ll probably be in for one

I'm officially stoked for this one. The Big Boy is a great runner this will probably be better. I'm extremely tempted to get two and possibly convert one to 2926... but We may get both now that 2926 is running.

Now as far as that goes I'm extremely irritated at all the HO fools on social media... "what about HO scale?" Yadda yadda.
There's already been one run of 3751 in HO from BLI (BLI #045). Granted Paragon 3 but still not that long ago... It's not easy modeling the Santa Fe in N, but it's just aggravating when they have the best opportunities to do so in their scale as it is without the whining... /rant.

I'm very much a "No BLI" kinda guy, but I understand their steam locos are considerably better than their diesel locos.

As someone who models modern-era California, I'm actually more excited about this than the Big Boy since 3751 is seen running more frequently around here than 4014.

Their website photos look beautiful, but of course, they are either mock-ups or the HO model. 
Now I need an excuse to say the ATSF occasionally ran steam north into Oregon out of California, but I don't
think it ever happened.

The announcement photos also show SEE THRU DRIVERS... I hope they stick to that.

ATSF did lease 2-10-4s to PRR, so ...it would be 'plausible'...if you really want to run one.  But as far as I know, they never got north of the ferry dock in Richmond CA.

Well...I am going to start saving my pennies and see if I can get together enough bucks before reservations close out.

I am going to assume that the 'in service' models are in service post 1940- which is to say, have 80" drivers as rebuilt, not the 73".

A couple questions- for those with BLI locos with supposed 80" drivers- what do the drivers actually scale to? (and/or actual dimensions of the model).  I assume less than 80, given flanges and such. 
What on earth does BLI do to make a loco this size waddle around 9 3/4 inch radius curves (per the description in the announcement).  Do the compromises to make it do that impact operation on more reasonable radii, or impact them mechanically?
