That B&O boxcar is super basic looking. I love it.

Does anyone know the significance of the Hamilton OH location listed on the 'return empty' stencil?
Was this car assigned to service for a particular customer?

There was a General Motors plant in Hamilton through 1986. That would be my Google-educated guess.

Fisher Body Hamilton/Fairfield stamping plant, to be more precise.

Shouldn't there be a black background behind the COTS stensel?
And the lettering font looks a little CONRAILy... (maybe thats correct for that era of B&O)

Where (how) are you guys finding these pics? I know the B&O one is hosted on the MTL site, but please share.

The Media kit page and PDF are up, even though the home page links are not.  Looks like a bunch more items on the docket for May:

Ian, the B&O Color Guide (page 80) has a picture of 471619.

The lettering is correct, described as Futura Demi Bold Gothic. Also the photo shows the COTS without a black background. (1972 repaint so not uncommon with very early COTS, iirc the black background was required in 1973)

Now the bad news, the cars have 3/4 idn ends and a non terminating roof (can't tell which kind but other cars in similar series used pullman standard roofs)

I think I will definitly still get one, it screams early 70s conservative eastern railroad.
The Railwire is not your personal army.

Already pre-ordered the UP and KCS cars.  That ICG depressed Center flat looks good, but may be out of service by now.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.
